I love the Chi. It does great things for my hear. It straightens my hair in half the time as my old revlon. Ceramic is wonderful compared to those old ones. I recommend it highly if you can afford it. I paid around $165, and hope it will last a few years.

Its not all its cracked up to be. It broke after 2 months, and because I bought it online they wouldn’t touch the warranty. It worked good while it lasted, but for 2 months, i could have gotten a much better deal!

i used to have a cheap straightner from target, and my hair became extremely fried and dry. i have long dark hair, and it is naturally very shiny and soft but the inexpensive flat iron made it dull and frizzy. the chi SAVED my hair. i bought a serum to put in before straightening, and my hair slowly got increasingly better. it makes my hair so soft and shiny, and it didn’t break my ends at all. I LOVE MY CHI. i couldn’t live without it.

I am an African American woman. The problem that I was having is my hair was not growing due to the chemicals I was putting in my hair to straighten it(relaxer every 6 wks). A friend suggested that I try the CHI, since then (june 2007) I have put one relaxer in my hair and that was in December. The CHI has allowed me to straighten my hair with out the chemicals and because of that my hair has been growing. It is healthier! The curling irons that I used burned my hair. The CHI for me is a Hair Saver!! I Love it!

This is my third CHI. The first had to be retired after I had dropped it one too many times. The second lost the little plastic piece that turns the iron on and off. I’ve been using the third for a few months now, and so far so good. Even though the CHI may be a little delicate (I suggest buying a heat resistant pouch to keep it in since it keeps it protected from drops), it is the most convenient flat iron on the market. It heats up in seconds, the plates are the perfect size to straighten or curl, it never feels hot to the touch, and it straightens perfectly everytime. Just make sure you keep your warranty info!

After purchasing the CHI straightener, I started reading the reviews and was a little scared with the fact that most people were saying their CHI broke or they had issues with it burning out (etc.) As of right now I do not have a single complaint about my CHI…then again I have only had it for one and a half months so hopefully all will go well and I will be one of the lucky ones! I am definitely pleased with the price because everywhere else I have checked for the CHI have been very very expensive. It works very well on my curly hair…I am happy :)

This straightener is so amazing! My very old crappy beat up Coriolis took me an hour to straighten my hair, and it was still wavy. But my new Chi takes me 20 minutes and my hair is bone straight and very shiny. This product heats up incredibly fast, for those of you who are rushed. My life has changed and now I’m more confident to go out!

Absolutely the most overrated flat iron ever made. Quality is poor, every one I’ve had broke in 5 months or less, and for $150+ you should expect at least a year! It works as well as most other irons, but when you’ve tried titanium and some other newer technology out there, it makes this thing look worthless. Way overrated. Get something else.. Chi’s time has come and gone!

so i just ordered my chi off of ebay about 2 days ago and it just came in about 2 hours ago, i just used this iron and let me tell you it is THE BEST iron ever! i have gone through about 3 other irons, and this is just the best thing. You know how your hair smells really fried after you straighten it? well with the chi there is no fried smell. This iron makes your hair silky and very smooth. i love this iron soooo much.spend a little more money because it is deffinately worth it!

My aunt and my BFF both have a CHI but I have horribly frizzy hair and the CHI doesn’t work!!! a CRicket works a lot better than a CHI even though it doesn’t really work any more on my hair!! ! i was thinking about asking my mom to get me one of those Ozon Titanium flat irons b/c it is # 1 on the top 10 straighteners and it only costs like $99!!!!

I got long and dry hair and it makes me sick knowing it becomes so dry after washing. Though I use conditioner to make it soft & manageable (as they use to say) but it’s still dry & looks ugly. I love having long hair so I can do anything under the sun but having dry hair is not good. Then a friend recommend to use flat iron to make it manageable and look good. I had a second thought about buying one but when she let me use hers, the result was amazing! I went online to try buying one and I got my chi flat iron at XXXXXX for only $82.99 and free shipping. They send it to me fast and accurate. I excitedly used it at once and I am so happy with the result. It makes my hair straight, shiny and manageable. I don’t need to comb it every time but only once a day. The result was really amazing and it’s worth buying one. I can even use it while my hair is wet. And it’s still manageable till night. No need to use brush or comb, just a slide of my hand and it’s back.

i have had 3 chis before the first one the cord kept popping out so it would only wok if you put the cord in one direction the second the straightening plate popped out and my third did the same thing as the first my older sister has one so i am using hers hers is around 3 years old but it is not as hot and the last one i got was aroung 6 moths ago so it already broke so i would not reccomend it i am thinking of getting the ozon.

i think i paid around 140. for mine, on sale a few years ago. i have frizzy hair and it worked great for me. took less than 15 minutes to straighten all my hair. the product works awesome. unfortuantely, i dropped it pretty hard on the ground due to the fact that i picked it up when it was on and burnt my hand. it broke, the plates both popped out. i believe if i had never dropped it that it might have lasted for years to come. it will definately work great, just be careful with it. also, for now i bought a cheap revlon one from target. dont waste your money on the cheap ones. my hair gets caught in it and the plates are not as smooth as the ones in the chi which makes it harder for your hair to glide through and get the same result.

I have alot of hair, fine but lots of volume, so when I bought my chi I was super excited. I immediately started getting compliments on how shiny and healthy it looked. And that was even better condsidering I color and highlight my hair pretty regularly. I am very impressed with it! It also helps to know the lil tricks to get the best results from your straightener, it was a great investment, I paid about $140 for mine at Trade Secret Salon.

I am a professional hair stylist. I have always used a CHI and everybody in my salon uses them. The people that have problems with them are most likely storing them improperly. I’ve had the same one for over 2 years and had no problems until recently which is pretty good since I turn it on and leave it on all day long. They are excellent irons and worth the money if you store it correctly. Wrapping the cord around the iron is the worst thing you can do to it. It breaks the wires inside and any iron is sure to not last if you do that. Wrap the cord loosly if at all. That’s the only way to store your appliances.

I used to not straighten my hair. Then i splurged and bought this one for $250 in the Yukon. It was a lot of money, but it was totally worth it. That was a year ago. I have really thick, long, curly hair and it straightens it so well. It used to take me 45 mins to an hour to straighten and now it takes me 20-30mins max. Its such a good buy.
Im not very gentle with it and it has fallen a couple of times. There is now a little chip in it and the cable has to be a certain way to work. But if you arent a teenage girl and you take good care of it then im sure you can make it last for years!!! Like i said priorly, ive had it for over a year, and its still as awesome as when i bought it.

I absolutely love the way my CHI makes my hair look. If I could change anything it would have adjustable temperature controls. I have a lot of hair but the strands are fine and the CHI gets so hot it damages my hair pretty quickly. The bad thing about the CHI is the way it is made. I have had 2 that the cords just short out and uless it sits a certain way, it wont work. It seems to break way too easily. I saw an earlier review that says 7 months is a good length of time for a flat iron’s life. I disagree. If I am going to pay $150 for a flat iron, I fully expect it to last.

Hi I purchased this CHI 1″ Flat Iron through my hairdresser because she raves about it. I had a cheap inexpensive store bought one that dies after a year. So idecided to invest and bought this one. I hate it, I think that my cheapo Revlon was better. I also like the 1 1/2 inch better if you have long hair. I am going out tommorow and buying a Ozon Titanium with the free Cherry Bomb syrum.

I bought my CHI about 2 years ago and it seems to have met it’s maker. I turned it on last night to use it and I could smell electrical burning cause the plastic switch to turn it on won’t move now (it’s stuck in the on position…at least I can use it). It smells like something is burning. It has been excellent though for the time I’ve had it. Looking for a new make and model now though.

I purchased a CHI for my best friend for her birthday Dec 1st 2007. She has very curly and coarse hair. After using the CHI her hair would be smooth and very straight she loved it. She would use the iron several times a week. When it was not in use it would be stored away with the cord wrapped with it strap on a shelf in the bathroom. About Sept 2007 (10 months later) her CHI quit working. I contacted the store where I purchased the iron and they gave me the information to the company for the warrenty. I have contacted them several times only to be placed and left on hold. I am now looking for a better product to give for this birthday that will last longer than 10 months. I am very disappointed with putting out over a $100 on a flat iron for it only to work for 10 months. While it worked she was very pleased with the product and raved about it but we were expecting it to last for years not months.

I received my first CHI as a birthday present, I was so excited…about 11 months later it developed a “short” I NEVER wrapped the cord, so nobody could say it was “stored improperly.” I contacted the store where it came from, brought it in and they gave me a new one. Now almost 2 years down the road I’m having the EXACT same issues…my cousin and best friend also bought a CHI and hers quit within 7 months, and her next one a year later…I’m on the fence about this and don’t know if I will ever buy their flat iron again.

I have very thick, curly hair and always longed to have straight long locks. I had tried straighteners before but nothing seemed to do the trick. I invested in the CHI and it straightened my hair easily without frying it! Unfortunately this straightener got stolen from me but I definitely would buy a new one if I had the extra cash.

I bought a chi because my stylist recomended it.
I hate it. It doesnt have a temperature contol
so you are stuck with high heat. Not good for my
blonde hair. I used a true ceramic pro that I bought from an infomercial about 6 tears ago. It finally died so I needed
something fast. Anyway I bought the Chi and my hair looks awful. I just had all the dead hair cut off and am ordering another True ceramic pro. While i wait for it I bought a bed
head on sale to hold me over untill it arrives. I also will be letting my hair go with it’s natural curl as much as possible. I cant believe I threw away the packaging for the chi because I was moving and now I cant even return it.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

i really like the chi straightner, altho i havnt bought it for myself yet, i use it at a friends house all the time, me and my friends have a hour to get ready in the morning, and we all get ready together there is four of us, we all straighten our hair, and the chi always works, and its perfect size to, becus her bathroom is small she needs room, it is perfect, and when we are all lined up to the mirrir, we need a long cord that will ajust to where in the bathroom i or my friends are. me and 5 other friends right now, say it is the best straightner.

I have owned 3 Chi hair straightners and within a year, each of them stopped working, they stopped heating up. After replacing our last one which also broke, I have decided that, although it definitely does a wonderful job straightening my hair, I cannot afford to keep replacing them! The warranty is only good for 30 days. I would not recommend a Chi to anyone.

I don’t understand why everyone in the beauty industry seems to think that the Chi is the best. First of all, after doing some research online, I noticed that an older version of the Chi was recalled due to it being a fire hazard. Secondly, I do not like that the temperature is not adjustable. The only positive thing is that it does work well at straightening hair, although I used mine just to make it look neater since I already have relatively straight hair.

I’ve had my CHI straightener for about 2 years now. It just stopped working today (I’ve never dropped the straightener, spilled water on it, or anything, it just all of a sudden stopped working for no reason, shows how bad it is. I’m suprised it worked as long as it did, reading these reviews that had to be an outstanding time). I strongly suggest to everyone, NOT to buy the CHI! I thought it was the most excellent straightener ever, but it didn’t do exactly what I wanted for my hair. It’s not a good straightener, and a lot of waste of money. It’s a horrible straightener, I have straighteners from Walmart that do the same thing as the CHI.

I plan on getting the Ozon-titanium straightener, the reviews are great.

I use my CHI every single day. With my type of hair cut my hair has to be straight and flat for it to be nice and my natural hair is quite wavy. I’ve tried conairs, babybliss and most popular straighteners before and my CHI gives me an amazing result comparing to all of the other ones I tried. All my friends bought themselfs their own CHI’s after trying mine. I’ve had my CHI for close to three years now and I remain as satisfied as the very first time I used it!

I would not recoment this iron; it does straighten my hair but my hair smelled burnt until I washed again 2 days later. I started with lowest heat setting and increased slowly until it actually started straightening, I landed somewhere in the middle and my hair was burnt. When i got my chi, i was so excited and couldnt wait to get it out of the box. Well, i was pretty suprised on how flimsy it was. It didnt feel very durable, as a matter of fact it felt like if i were to drop it it would break easily. I still gave it a chance, and it didnt get hot enough to straighten my hair, and i have normal slightly wavy hair. NOPE i hate this straightener!!!! It snagged my hair so bad and made my hair smell burnt, Im definately gonna go back to sallys and get the one i had gotten for 40 bucks that worked way better than this~

-Do not wrap the cord around the iron
-If you do hav thin/fine hair use the chi silk infusion so yor hair duzent burn wen u straighten it
-Also if yor hair is thin grab mor hair wen straightenin it
-Turn yor iron off befor unpluggin it
-Buy yor chi @ a salon so tht u automatically get a 1yr warranty incase sumthin duz go rong the (I bought mines from jcpenney’s salon)
-Keep yor reciept and the packaging yor chi came in

+hope I helpd!!!

Having used a friend’s CHI several times, I recently purchased one for myself. The CHI works great on my hair. I have very fine hair that is naturally wavy, hilighted blonde and tends to frizz. My hair doesn’t look dry or burnt when I’m done straightening. I use the CHI Silk Infusion when my hair is damp and when I straighten I spray on the CHI flat iron spray. That really helps keep my hair from drying out. My friend has had her CHI for over 5 years and had no problems. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants shiny, straight frizz-free hair!

I’ve had my CHI for 4 years and still going strong. I bought a different flat iron but just returned to my CHI. It is awesome. I have very course, wavey hair and once the CHI goes through it I feel like a million bucks. I love it. I would recommend this product to all the girls who wish they had beautiful, shiny, straigt hair!

Well i had this straightener a yr ago and then it broke cuz i used in Spain and i tried 2 use a cord adapter and it broke my only 3 week old chi. It had already been a little chipped, and the quality wasnt great bc it broke rlly easily, but it did work on my hair and it wuz good 4 the 3 weeks that i had it. After that, i got a Revlon, which made my hair split and fryed it rlly easily. I had 2 wait a couple of months 2 let my hair grow back to normal before i tried my 3rd iron and it wuz a BaByliss, a lite blue 1, which i stil have 2 this day and works perfectly. it does everything this chi can do but even better. i luv the digital adjustment system on the BaByliss, and it is worth the extra money to get that instead of this chi b.c it works soooo much better and DOES NOT BREAK!! Dont waste ur money on this straightening iron that braks withing weeks from even the slightest exposure to damage. Get the lite blue BaByliss!!

I absolutely HATE this flat iron! It is so overrated. It makes my hair look dull and frizzy, and doesn’t get hot enough to straighten my ends!I have fine, curly hair by the way. I also hate that you can’t adjust the temperature and it makes your hair smell burnt. Gross. What a waste of money.

I bought my Chi in 2006,and it lasted me about 3 years (it began to give out last month) since then i’m still desperate for an iron. The price is not so appealing but then again the iron did last 3 years so i guess that’s good?? I dont know it gave me a good run but im still gonna shop around for a better iron with a better price. The iron get extremely hot and you can adjust it, thus, resulting in your hair smelling burnt, the serum they give you is expensive, take good care of the cord, mine still turns on but the cord is taped in a weird position so the little red light comes on…all in all i give it a 4, the price just stops me from giving it a 5.And avoid dropping it =]

I loved my chi just til this past week or so. I had it for about 2 going on 3 years. It did great things for my thick, curly hair! Then–the LED light stopped lighting up and it stopped heating up…and it didn’t work. This has just been a recent development–but I liked it while it worked…

Am interested now in trying a different straightner…I would like to find one that will last a while…although my chi did well for that long…

I LOVE MY CHI!!!! I have really thick wavy hair. My sister introduced me to the CHI. I never imagined how much better and faster it straightened my hair compaired to a cheap knock off. I am a mom with 2 babies and normally would never spend this much on myself, but after using my sisters a few times I was hooked. Before I bought mine, I would drive 10 mins out of my way to her house on my way to work because even with the extra drive time it was still faster.

I have a CHI but I have very thick hair and I would like the CHI to be able to get my hair pin straight, right now its not as thin as I would like it. But I am going to shop around for a new straightener, if you have thick and frizzy hair you might want to shop around a little more for a straightener that will get your hair pin straight!

I personally love the Chi becuase it left my hair so soft and shiny making me feel great about myself. Unlike other straightners it didn’t make my hair look poofy and kind of straight, it was actually pretty flat and I didn’t have any frizz to my hair that I get with other straightners that I use. I always reccomend this to people.

Pros: Kind of cheap, well-known, floating plates
Cons: Painful snagging of hair, requires multiple tries to straighten a section of hair, hair becomes brittle and rough, no temperature dial, construction feels cheap and fragile, causes static-y hair

I bought this as a replacement for my less well-known PV straightener (bought at a salon that swore by it for ~$170, it was a great straightener that never snagged and left my hair silky and shiny) when I moved out for university. Was very excited to try a CHI because of all the hype surrounding it, but ended up being very very disappointed in the actual product. Needless to say, brand names really don’t mean anything. I ended up going back to my old straightener and regifted the CHI to my mom’s friend.

First of all, if you’re new to straightening your hair or the last iron you owned was a cheap department/drug store model, you will likely disagree with me and argue that CHI is the best. Unfortunately for those of us with more experience, the popularity of this straightener is just an unfortunate result of far too much public exposure through magazines and uneducated consumerism. There are far better straighteners out there, don’t get this.

This straightener made my hair static-y and dry, even with the use of my usual thermal protecting serum. The iron kept catching and yanking on my hair, and hair did not slide smoothly between the plates. After using the iron for a while and watching my hair deteriorate I gave up and went back to my good old PV, which I am still using right now, 2 years later. Please heed my review and rethink getting this terrible product.

BEWARE!!!! Of the FAKE CHI irons out there on the internet. I have and authentic chi and love it. Here is how you ccan tell 1) authentic Chi irons will have a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) with a reset button on the plug. 2)CHI Original 1″ irons will have an LED light next to the on/off switch. When the iron is in the off position, the LED will be clear. If you have a Fake CHI Original, the LED when in the off position will stay red. Check out this site if you want to find out if your chi is fake or not. xxxxxx

I’ve had my CHI since roughly my seventh grade year, about 4 years ago, and it really held up well, my hair would straighten well (and fast), and the warranty reassurred me if anything happened everything would be okay….well something did happen, it burnt out, it heats up, then quits. I am beyond upset about it, but the company will indeed give us a new one, but they were unfortunatly bought out, so when the next one’s gone, I’m toast!

I bought my first Chi, Christmas 2006. Then I received one as a gift that Chirstmas, so I actually have two!!! I am very hard on products and neither one of mine have ever broken in any way, and actually my 13 year old daughter took over one of them, and they both work fine almost 3 years later. I used to straighten my hair the old fashioned way(blow dryer + curling iron) and I cannot imagine living without it. I have course curly hair and it totally changes the texture to smooth and soft!!! Some of these people must be really rough on their flatirons!!! I feel like I have totally got my money out of the deal since they have lasted so long, so I am thinking of getting the Paul Mitchell one to replace it, just because it has a temp gauge and my stylist told me that I needed at least 400 degrees of heat to straigten my locks……..

I am on my third CHI flat iron. I first started using it in 2005, after my beautician had straightened my hair a few times. I had my first iron for 3 years, it evenutally stopped getting hot, but then again I used it everyday for 3 years. Then I bought my second one, in 5/08 and the plastic piece cracked and broke off and I would get shocked when plugging it in, so I decided to purchase a new one, since I no longer had the reciept or warranty info. This iron has seriously changed my appearance some people don’t even recognize me, because my hair was so frizzy, poufy, and curly. If you are considering this flat iron, make sure you keep the warranty info and your reciept. Also purchase the serum to go with it. This straightener will change your life. Not trying to sound weird or anything….but seriously it will!

Recently there is a short in the connection between the iron and the cord so I’m shopping around for a new one…I know there’s a lot more around now than when I first bought my CHI in ‘04, but I’m almost scared to try anything else. I didn’t have this exact CHI flat iron. I had the red home edition instead of the black salon edition. I had mine for 2 years, and I absolutley loved it! I dropped it pretty hard one day, and the switch broke somehow, so whenever it turned on it smelled like it was burning. I thought it was going to catch fire, so I never turned it on again. I was very upset. My sister and I shared it and it was used everyday. I told my hair stylist about it and she recommended I not buy another CHI. Something about how they moved the manufacturing over seas and they’re not made as well and durable as they used to be. Now my best friend has the same one i did, and she’s had hers for 5 years. Anyway, my hair stylist also reccommended i get an Infrashine. She used it on my hair this past time and i loved it! It’s for all types of hair. I have thin straight hair with no natural body and after she was finished it looked so full! so i highly recommend the Infrashine :)

My CHI iron works alright with my hair. I have thick curly hair but after using the iron for a while my hair looks fried on the ends and on the top. The CHI heats fast and straightens fast, but I have been through 4 irons in the past 5 years. They don’t last long at all, especially for how much you pay for it. I used to wrap the cord around the iron and I found out that is what makes the cord short out so with my last iron I haven’t wrapped the cord around the iron at all and it shorted out in barely over a year. The iron will barely turn on and keeps turning off as I use it. I bought a Paul Mitchell yesterday so hopefully that one works better.
