Review by chloe
I spent alot of money since it was suppose to keep your hair smooth in humid weather. I used this before i went out on a date on a humid night. i looked like a poodle at the end. This is a horrible product. It doesnt work very well and your hair gets caught if you dont use tiny sections. Hurts when you do the back of your head and cant see what your doing.
Review by Sue
I’ve never been able to get my hair as straight as when I used the Maxiglide. That’s the upside. The downside is that I had a lot of breakage due to the detangling pins. After several months the ceramic coating started chipping off the plate, so my hair would get stuck on the plates. The infomercial says it keeps your hair straight in extreme humidity. It didn’t with my hair (& truthfully I wasn’t expecting it to).

I have used this product for 3 years and have the newest one- I promise anyone that this straightner is AMAZING and works wonders!! In order to keep hair straight in humidity you must use their product before you straighten AS THEY said in all their info commercials. Its the best stuff to and I still get it- bed bath and beyond has it-30.00 bucks and well worth it.

Really there is only one way to say this..
HORRIBLE…HORRIBLE….AND HORRILBE
Review by Andree
Had this three plus years, never really got great results.I took one of the detangleing plates off and it was a lot better. Was glad to read that the smoothing product can be found at bed adn bath as that makes all the difference.

I watched infomercials for the Maxiglide Hair Straightener over and over again for months. I wanted to give my hair a break from relaxing creams. So, even though I never buy anything from these ads, I liked what they said and showed it would do. It’s expensive, but I decided to take a chance anyway. I am glad I did, I like it. I like the idea of using steam instead of chemicals to straighten my hair. I followed the instructions and used their hair products. And my hair seems to be growing. I think the Maxiglide is worth the money.

I have been using this for well over a year and it is the only flat iron that gets my hair straight without leaving little “waves” in my hair. The reason this product works so well is because of the steam and that’s also part of the reason my hair doesn’t frizz when it’s raining or the humidity is bad.
You don’t need to use their products, instead, all you need is Frizz Ease hair serum or any other hair serum. I put about a nickel size amount in my hand then rub my hands together and then run it through my hair. I pin my hair up and straighten a section at a time but before I do that, I put a little more of the serum on my fingers and rub it into the ends of my hair to give more protection. I also spray on a heat styling protecting which gives me further protection.
The con to this product is the plates with all the little “teeth” because your hair does get caught in them and it breaks your hair off. I removed the plate with the teeth on it but since it still has a side with the teeth, I make sure to comb my hair right before using the maxiglide.
I have very curly, frizzy hair and this product gets my hair the straightest it has ever been and NO frizz. I say buy it, try it for yourself because if you don’t like it, you can always send it back. I do suggest going to hsn.com because it is a lot cheaper there than the retail price plus hsn will stand behind any of their products so there is no hassle to return something as long as you do it within 30 days. If you order it now, you will have until January 31, 2009 to return it so you can try it for an extended period of time.

I have been using Maxiglide for 3 years now. I have natural curly hair that is super thick, course, long, and frizzy. I tried everything including various hair straightening serums and tried half a dozen straighteners. I even had my hair chemical straighened. With this, I still had to use product and a flat iron. I would get angry trying to blow dry my hair straight (which ended up to be a big, thick frizzy head of hair). I decided to try Maxiglide. WOW! I was amazed. I love this product. I recommend this product to anyone who has thick curly unmanageable hair. Maxiglide works best (for me)when I let my hair air-dry without any product in it. After it’s dry, I simple glide the iron through my hair. It’s simple and only takes me 5 mins. I can’t imagine my life without it! Thank you Maxiglide for making my life easier!

I too watch the commercials for such a long time along with other flat iron commercials. I decided to select this one because of the ad showing the girl steping into the shower after using Maxiglide. I have very thick kinky hair (it turns into an uncombable afro if I don’t straighten it)and Maxiglide makes my hair swinging shiny soft straight. I don’t use their products anymore and I still get great result and compliments from all ethnic groups. I don’t have to use chemical anymore to make my hair straight, shiny and manageable.

Like many others, I too watched the infomercials and decided to try the Maxi-glide. Long story short, my hair ended up being so-so straight, and my house ended up smelling like burnt hair. The only plus side is the steam feature, but even that can become a pain when it runs out of water, and you have to stop and put some in. If you wants your hair supe straight, this might not be the product for you.
Review by Mattie
I have been using this product for 4yrs now on my African American 10 yrs old daughter’s hair. I did not want to use any chemicals on her long thick hair, so I took a chance and ordered it off of HSN after watching for over a month. If it didnt work I can send it back. I just order the new model and gave the old one to a friend. I really works on my natural shoulder length curly hair when I want to wear my hair straight. We can not live without it. Give it a try all you natural African American ladies/girls! You wont regret it!
Review by Lisa Rowan
I bought the Maxiglade because of the features advertised.
The straightener is heavy, bulky and hard to use. The steam feature is nice but runs out of water quickly. I have very long thick hair and I just didn’t get the results I expected.

MY PROFESSIONAL MAXIGLIDE HAIR STRAIGHTER WORKS SO GOOD ON MY HAIR!, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT IT THAT I LOVE SO MUCH IS ITS MORE HEALTHY FOR YOUR HAIR THAN JUST SUM OLD STRAIGHTENER IT LOCKS MOISTURE IN MY HAIR MAKING IT SHINY N HEALTHY LOOKING THE HEAT HOLDS THE CUTICLE DOWN, SO THE HEAT DOESN’T DAMAGE THE IN SIDE CORTEX AND MEDULLA NOT EVEN THE CUTICLE! MY HAIR FEELS N LOOKS THE BEST IT EVER HAS I LOVE IT !!!
Review by Naomi
I have one of these but its the older one. My aunt gave it to me a few years ago. I was SO excited after hearing so much about this on TV and all that, I figured, “this is going to ROCK!” – Not.
After all the excitement, I tried it…it was “okay.” Not worth all the “hype” I anticipated. I wasn’t always completely satisfied with the results. My hair didn’t feel very “smooth” and “straight.” And, it didn’t stay “straight” very long, it would start to get wavy and puffy after a day out and I’d have to re-straighten it the following day, after a while my hair would start to feel dry so eventually I stopped using it and let my hair air dry naturally and started to appreciate my curls since its what I was born with and why ruin what god gave you? I have not straighten in a LONG time and don’t do it unless its a special occasion. I’ve come to realize that straightening your hair is BAD for it. Plus straighteners seemed to have improved a lot now and there are SO many brands out there.
Now looking into buying another, more updated hair straightener. The water chamber runs out quickly and its a pain to re-fill. I don’t like how the pins seem to “snag” my hair and I get some breakage. I wouldn’t recommend this for many people, but everyone’s hair is different so its hard to tell who to recommend it too. I am Spanish-Italian with VERY curly hair, its A LITTLE course but not at all kinky. All curly hair has a little course-ness to it. Over-all, if you’re thinking about investing in one of these, I would recommend to look into a better straightener. There are better ones out there with more reasonable prices and better performance. Do your homework and do it well IF you plan on buying a Maxiglide. I guarantee you’ll settle on a different brand in the end. There are BETTER straighteners than the Maxiglide…I guarantee it! Right now I have my eyes set on an Ozon. They seem to have the best reviews so far…
Review by Theresa
The Maxiglide did work and straightened my hair, but it was so darn heavy I couldn’t hardly lift it. I use Kiyoseki with Aquage Beyond Shine and it works fantastic.
Review by alex
i really love this product!! it works great, so i used to think my aunts sstraightener was really good but this is so much better. i do prefer it with the flat plate insstead of the one with the pins on it and that was easily changed this is the first straightetner that i dont have to use the hottest heat to get my hair straight, i have long hair and it only takes like 9 minutes to straighten my hair and its also curly and thick. so yeah

very good product!

i haven’t used this product yet i have curly hair my friends have been looking for the right straightener and then i saw your commercial! you really are a life saver!
Review by Samantha
This was the first hair straightener I ever bought and I can’t say I hated it…at least not at first. Never cared for the anti-humidity product it comes with but the straightener straightened my African American hair type and made it look somewhat chic and tame. I’m giving this product a low rating though because it never fails to break my hair even after I got it permanently straightened. Plus it’s difficult to straighten my roots (although, its hard to burn yourself with it), it’s very awkward to hold (especially without a swivel cord), which has led to many dropping accidents including breaking it in half and a random break of the outside plastic shell; the plate’s coating chipped after only 3mths and after 3yrs of owning this product I can’t wait to replace it with an Ozon!

I’ve had the Maxiglide for 3 years now. The detangling plates do snag your hair BUT if you remove it, and just use the flat plates - it will glide easily through your hair very easily. It has variable control so you can change the temperature. I suggest you use a heat protector hair product first - such as Frizz-Ease or Biosilk hair serum - just a quarter size (i have lots of hair). I have long hair and super thick frizzy hair but it takes me only about 10 minutes to straighten it. I need to glide it twice at the most over 2″ wide strand and it’s done. The only down side is that it is bulky to use and filling it with water is a pain. But it works!
Review by Candi
This straightener is a Godsend. Seriously.
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE DVD and not press on your hair like an ordinary straightener otherwise you will get a lot of breakage.
Review by tiffney
i really like this straightner and i love the little combs it straightens all strands of hair

I was very excited when I bought my Maxiglide. However, the excitement did not last long. It’s way to heavy, not very good on fine hair and does-not get rid of frizz. My hair is damaged from this tool and do not recommed it to people with fine hair.
Review by roxanna
when i first saw the commercial i thought it was hard to believe that a straighter would make your withstand humidity. the first time i tried it i was absolutely DISAPPOINTED! the iron made my hair straight but it took away the shine, even when i used the water, my hair looked dull and it made it seem very think and coarse, and thats that i have wavy hair.
overall its a horrible product!
Review by hellokitty
NO NO NO! TOO EXPENSIVE. PULLS YOUR HAIR OUT. DOES NOT STRAIGHTEN WELL AND FORGET ABOUT PROTECTING FROM HUMIDITY! TOTALLY DUPED BY INFOMERCIAL.
Review by CYNTHIA

I bought this straightener a year and a half ago, on recommendation of my older sister who is a hair dresser. I fell in love. I was only 12 at the time and didn’t know much about styling hair and everything I was just happy it worked. What I didn’t realize was the damage my snagged ends had been though, the dull, pouffy look of my hair, and the fact that this just was not a good straightener. I dropped it one on CARPET, and the side part, where you’re supposed to be able to take off the plate with, broke off. This morning, I plugged my MaxiGlide in and waited for it to heat up, and the blue light blinked for longer than usual. I began straightening anyway, and the water in the tub leaked onto my hair! Then I looked at it, as it wasn’t straightening anymore, and the blue light was off. In all effort and hope, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it no longer turned on. I’m pissed. I bought the Metropolis in hope.

was hard to use and pulled my hair and made it fall out after using a few times a week and my hair still got frizzy midday waste of money and is overpriced! I ended using a Wigo flat iron from Ulta that is only $30 bucks and works 100 times better gets my hair super straight and silky with no frizz later in the day!

This product is not the best . I have used one from Sally’s hair salon ( the Generic something something) and it straghtens my hair better than the Maxiglide . I too watched the infomercials VERY VERY VERY MANY TIMES . And i was soo excited when it finally arrived at my house . I washed my hair and let it air dry and then i used it . DANG ! It is very bulky (2 inches) , heavy and pulls out your hair and damages it . My hair is between curls and waves , thick , and coarse . Since their is two kinds i got the one for the coarse type of hair . The informercial gives you all this crap about everything , and in reality it doesnt even work that well . Also it doesnt get as close to your roots as possible like other straigtheners . This product was a waste of my money and i dont even use it anymore . One more thing to say is ;;
DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT . IT DOESNT WORK . YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND WONT BE SATISFIED .

I had the Maxiglide for two years. I really enjoyed using this product until this week. I turned it on and everything was perfectly fine, but halfway through straightening my hair the blue light began to flash. I unplugged it & plugged it back in, thinking it would help. IT DID NOT! Now the light will not stop flashing and it only heats on one side… The people at Maxius said that they could not do anything. According to them this product is only supposed to be used ONCE A WEEK…. I plan on replacing it with either the Ozon or an Enzo Milano straightener…
