When I bought my Sedu, I was kind of wondering whether or not it was worth the money, but I believe it was. It is light weight, and smooth on the hair. It gets hot enough to tame my frizzy mane, and that alone makes it worth it to me. I used to pay $70 just to get it straightened at the salon so when I look at it that way, its an investment.

I’m pretty “meh” about this product. For the money, I would be upset if it wasn’t for the fact that it does run more smoothly through my hair than any other flat iron I’ve ever had. But it DOESN’T give me amazing results!!!!!!
My biggest complaint: I have ends that stick out, that I like to use a flat iron on. This one does not help with them at all!!! As a result, I’ve been forced to keep my old flat iron for this purpose. My old flat iron is the same size as this Sedu one is, so it’s definitely not an issue of that.

This straightener honestly works miracles. My hair is on the thicker side and its wavy/curly about 7 inches past my shoulder. I bought the sedu for the first time and i absolutely love it! I bought it around a month ago and its done nothing but make my hair smoother, softer and shinier. I can do my hair so fast too
this morning i woke up 15 minutes before the bus came and managed to do my hair in 10 minutes which would normally take my conair about an HOUR! go ahead and save up and buy it, its so worth it!

After years of buying cheap straighteners, I finally got one that was expensive. I got this Sedu straightener as a gift for my birthday. It is pricey! It worked really well for about four months and I always used to wrap the cord around it when I wasn’t using it. So after those four months, it started to get really weird and I guess that the electrical wires inside of the iron near the swivel cord were shorting out. The on button would flash depending on how I had it positioned since the wires weren’t connected right anymore, and the temperature gauge wasn’t accurate. Needless to say, after about 6 months of having it, I threw it in the trash. I was so mad, but I guess that you really can’t wrap the cord around it when you aren’t using it. Anyways, if you’re paying $130 for a product, you would hope it wouldn’t crap out on you after only half of a year!

I agree with Marisa, I got mine for christmas, used it less than 10 times and it broke, but the difference is I never wrapped the cord around it I was extra careful with it putting it back in it’s box after each use. Long story short it stopped heating to the point I would use the highest setting and I could touch the plates with my hand and it would only be warm. The strange thing is my friend and I bought it at the same time (Christmas) and broke at the same time (june). Save your money and buy another brand.

I purchased a Sedu based on all the great reviews I saw online. It did work great for a while. However, in exactly 25 days, the iron just stopped working. I mean completely, it would not turn on or heat up at all. I returned it for a full refund but will never buy again.

Pricey iron - Its great… Heats up fast. Glides through the hair… Always use a protective product and you will not have any problems like gummy or sticky. So narrow it can be used as a curling iron on the ends. AND it can be used close to the scalp.

I love my Sedu, I am biracial and have long natural curly hair. This is by far the best iron I’ve owned. It makes my hair look smooth and shiny. My daughter does have to go over my hair more than once though and in reading the other reviews of Ozon I think I will be getting that one next. Also this is my second one, my cord was going out too because of wrapping it. But overall its a great product and I paid about $100 for it at the time.

I have had my Sedu for over a year and I still love it. It is cheaper than a Chi and works 10 times better. I have naturally curly, coarse hair and when I use it people are amazed that my hair is actually curly. I have used my sedu at work as well and it has never given me any problems. (I am a hairstylist). Just an FYI you should never wrap the cord around any of your appliances or tools for they will short out.

Ive been using this flat iron for over two years. it does a fantastic job. the only issue i have with it is for the past year the swivel cord shorts out. no sparks or anything, but if the cord moves to much, i.e. while im using it, it shuts off. luckily it heats up quickly, its just a pain to keep checking that its on all the time.

I’ve had my Sedu for over 1 yr now. I have natural African American hair and coarse as my hair is it works wonders for me.
I don’t use heat protectors on my hair because i find that when i use those products on my hair it make the outcome of it kind of stiff. the process last a whole week until i wash my hair again. as long as i keep my ends clipped, (i would suggest going to a professional if u don’t know how) I don’t have any problems with my ends sticking out.

My mom, my sister, and myself had this straightner for about three years and this weekend my sister was using it and the cords started on fire and the cord detached its self from the straightner. Although this happened to us, my aunt has the same model and has had it for the sameamount of time and hers works perfectly fine. We used it three times more often, so thats why it probably happened. other than it starting on fire it was excellent for the other part!

I have had my straightner for 5 years now. It has always worked fantastic on my hair. I had tried my friends before I bought mine and that was why I picked to get this one. My sister, my mom and I all used it for three years before I moved out and they had to get a new one. The one I have is the model before this one, but I don’t need one that gets hotter because I have really thin hair, although my mom and sister have thick hair. But it works really really well. I recently let my cousin borrow it because she was getting married and wanted to straighen her hair and she won’t give it back. LOVE IT!!
I’ve used the Sedu iron on my daughters hair for the past 3years. The iron was a gift from my sister. My daughter is bi-racial and has very thick, “very thick” curly hair. When I first used it, I was amazed at how straight, shiny, and beautiful her hair came out. Her hair curly is to her shoulders, straight, to the top of her waist. I’ve used other flat irons and none of them have come close to what I achieve with the Sedu. Overall great product, worth the price.

I do agree with most of them with the performance but I am not happy with the quality of the SEDU iron, the plastic is so cheap, the cord, the temp control light does not a give a good feel to touch or use. I started to doubt when I first saw it if I got the right product from folica. Hope the Sedu guys will use some good quality plastic to give a better quality look and feel. But I a happy with the Sedu performance.

I used to have a CHI straightening iron. It died after 2.5 years or so. I bought a SEDU to replace it. After reading the reviews I thought it would be the greatest thing ever. It’s an “ok” iron. The CHI was a lot better to me. The sedu leaves my hair curly in back and it dries my hair out a lot more than the CHI. I have naturally wavy hair and use a straightener every day. I am going to return the SEDU to xxxxxxcom after over 90 days and order a different brand. I guess stick with what you know.

My cousin has straightened my hair with a sedu and I loved it, my hair is naturally really wavy and it is very poofy and gets affected by the humidity really easily so it is hard for me to find the right straightener but out of the straighteners i’ve used so far sedu worked wonders, it actually made my hair pin straight. But the thing about this straightener is that it is so expensive.

I really liked this straightener at first. It did a great job straightening and, best of all, heated up in about 30 seconds. However, after about 2 years of light use it got a short in the cord at the base of the straightener. Then the plug-in box started to disintegrate. Pretty soon it would only turn on and stay on if the cord was in the exact right position and even then, it would not get very hot. The same thing happened to my mom’s straightener after she’d used hers for the same amount of time. I expected a professional straightener to hold up a bit better, not self destruct!

This is a great product for all hair textures, esp. curly/coarse hair. I am African American with medium length relaxed hair. My hair is extremely thick and this Sedu flat iron is one of few that can actually produce salon quality results. I also own a Conair Infinity, Remington, and an Ozon flat iron…the Sedu is definitely one of my favorites. This iron gets extremely hot (Be Careful ladies!), which helps to cut the time it takes to straighten my hair dramatically. Another plus is that the Sedu is lighter in weight than any iron I have ever owned. When I use this product, my hair comes out light, silky, and healthy looking…. and it never snags my hair like some of the cheaper versions do. I must say though, it is a little bit difficult to make spiral curls with this iron because it does not rotate. Also, the quality of shampoo/conditioner you use really does affect the outcome of how your hair will look after using this iron. And because it gets so hot, I would never use a Sedu without first applying a heat protectant to my hair; although I use a thermal protectant every time I put any kind of heat on my hair. Basically this is a good choice because it is easy to use and equally as powerful. I recommend this to almost all of my friends who are willing to pay for it.

I bought the Sedu about 8 months ago. When I opened the box it wasn’t what I expected at all, it kinda looked cheap. It took awhile for me to figure out the proper heat setting for my hair so that it would stay straight but not fry it too much. I’d say for about a month and a half it worked great; my hair was really straight and smooth and I could get super close to the scalp. However, no matter how much or what kind of heat protect ant you use (expensive salon brands or cheap drugstore ones) you start to develop fried ends. The good thing is that it JUST fries the ends, but if you have bangs and layers it looks weird. Also note that this straightener gives you FLAT hair and not full-bodied hair like the Chi does(although the Chi fries the entire strand of hair).
It does glide very smoothly through hair, much smoother than my old CHI, but the problem is this: it is so smooth that you don’t get any stretch/tension to the hair, and hair needs heat + stretch to be straightened. I am currently on the market for something better. My stylist’s GHD seems to apply more tension, so I am going to check out GHD and Ozon.

Also note that this straightener gives you FLAT hair and not full-bodied hair like the Chi does(although the Chi fries the entire strand of hair).
Review by Angela Taylor
It does glide very smoothly through hair, much smoother than my old CHI, but the problem is this: it is so smooth that you don’t get any stretch/tension to the hair, and hair needs heat + stretch to be straightened. I am currently on the market for something better. My stylist’s GHD seems to apply more tension, so I am going to check out GHD and Ozon.
